About Chris

Chris is a great picture of what God can do with “the least of these.”  He grew up in a rough family environment as the oldest of seven children.  His parents unfortunately struggled with addiction which led to a lot of challenges including poverty and constant relocation resulting in always being the “new kid” in every school.  He heard through his younger years that “Christians are unenlightened idiots who don’t know their own scriptures.” Despite this he went to church through some of his high school years due to a young lady he was dating, though he didn’t come to follow Jesus through that season.  He joined the U.S. Army while in High school and eventually returned home to serve with the Arkansas Army National Guard as well.  It was during this time that he began his college career at Arkansas State University, eventually transferring to the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.  It is here that he met students from a mission training organization who began building a relationship with him which led to him coming to meet Jesus.  His salvation and call to ministry both happened within 24 hours of one another.   He immediately left his studies in pre-law to pursue a life of ministry.

Chris has served in a variety of ministry and business roles since coming to Christ in November of 2000.  He served with the organization Youth With A Mission (YWAM) when first coming to Christ. Later, he was faculty and administration at a conservative Christian school named Ecclesia College. He received his Bachelors and Masters degrees while serving there. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Governance for EC.   In 2005, he married a Kansas farm girl, Shawnee.  He sometimes jokes that he could have married someone from the Middle-east and understood that culture better than farm culture.  In 2006 he moved into local church ministry becoming the Associate Pastor of Young Adults at Elmdale Baptist Church where he was ordained for ministry.  During his time there he also started CK Art & Design as well as Community Auto Mart.  Both businesses not only helped to support he and his wife in ministry (along with her career in banking) but also served as avenues by which to share the Gospel in the business community.  In 2009 Chris became the Baptist Collegiate Ministry (BCM) Campus Minister at the Northwest Arkansas Community College. In 2012 he was the Executive Pastor of a church plant, now established church, Metro Church.

In 2012, he began serving more directly with the Arkansas Baptist State Convention (ABSC) as the Community College and Media Mobilization Strategist. During this time he helped launch the Lead>Defend Conference which has now grown to over 2000 annual participants.  In 2017, he moved to serve full-time with the ABSC as the Assistant Team Leader for what was then called the College + Young Leaders Team.  He also was given responsibilities with collegiate missions mobilization and apologetics for the convention.

In December 2023 he finished his full-time service with the convention and now travels throughout the United States and abroad speaking at camps, churches, schools, universities, and conferences.  He also continues to lead groups to various countries around the world to engage cultures with the Gospel.

He, his wife and son, Hudson, are members of First Baptist Church Rogers where they are active in many areas of ministry including leading their Collective College + Young Pro ministry.
